Ages and Gender
- Our league comprises divisions for children between the ages of 4 and 16.
- Each division has unique programs for boys and girls, other than Tee Ball, which is a co-ed division.
- League Age Determination: League Age Calculator
- Safety is the main priority in all our divisions, however depending on skill set players may apply to move up to the next age group if they are within 1 year of the above group. A player evaluation should take place to verify the skill set of the player in question, and each request must be approved by the McLane Little League Board. To apply for a division change, please complete the Division Change Request form and email it to [email protected]. Register your child into the age group the website allows, and we will be able to move them accordingly after the review.
Medical Release
- Medical Release forms are required for all players annually and must be completed and turned in prior to the start of the season. The medical release form can be downloaded here Medical Release Form. The completed forms can be emailed to [email protected] or turned into a McLane Little League volunteer.
Commitment
- Games are played two or three times a week Monday-Saturday. When, where, and how often practices occur are at the discretion of each coach.
- While none of the events are required, attendance and participation are highly recommended as they help each player work on the skills of the game along with sportsmanship; team building; and overall respect for player, coaches, umpires and all involved.
Team Construction
- Teams in all divisions are drafted to achieve equal competitiveness. Attendance at our open gym sessions is important for the evaluation of players for this consideration.
- McLane Little League will make their best effort to consider special requests; however we cannot guarantee that all request will be met.
- If there are not enough participants registered to fill a team within a division, we will attempt to combine players into a team with a neighboring town.
Timing
- The league starts in February with our “open gym” workouts. While not mandatory, these are strongly encouraged as it is a great time to bring the children together to work on basic skills including throwing, pitching, hitting, and fielding.
- These gym times are also very beneficial for coaches and league officials to determine the number of teams needed for each division and allow for skills assessment when building teams for best competitiveness during the season. For some divisions, once the season gets closer, these will change from open gym sessions to indoor practices.
- For tee-ball and coach pitch minors - games begin in May and run through June.
- For Player pitch minors and older - games will begin in April and run through June.
